The season of fall is a nostalgic time to enjoy the natural beauty of New England. The leaves change color which allows for exquisite scenery to take over in the streets. The weather is cool but not too cold; a perfect time to engage in activities in our beautiful world. For most people, fall festivities usually mean going apple picking at the closest local farm or picking up a pumpkin at the nearest market to carve. These traditional endeavors are always super fun but this fall, why not venture to a nearby state and experience something new? The close state of Vermont has several fall activities.

The ‘Green Mountain State’ is covered by forests in three quarters of its land. These forests provide amazing trails for family hikes. Vermont has a wide variety of places to hike and several that are family friendly. Mount Olga, Knight Point, Mount Elmore, Mount Independence, and Mount Philo are all great trails that families can enjoy, most with unforgettable views at the top! Along the way you’ll see beautiful foliage and maybe even some woodland creatures!

Another activity unique to Vermont is mountain biking. Most trails in Vermont were created by nature and finished off with the help of machines to smooth out the trails. Mountains such as Burke and Stowe offer amazing trails with priceless views. Personally, I have biked at both mountains, and I can confidently say that there are trails for all levels. No matter how advanced or new you are to the sport, there is something for everyone.

For those rainy weekends, the mountain state will still provide you and your family with an unforgettable time, even indoors! The Jay Peak Resort in Jay, Vermont, has activities for people of all ages. The hotel is known most recently for their water park named the ‘Pump House’. This park includes several giant water slides, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, lazy river, kid’s area, and a simulated wave machine for surfing and knee boarding. Inside the park is also a bar and a restaurant too. Additionally the resort has a draught house, where families can enjoy a movie in the cinema and adults can have a nice drink at the bar. The Clips and Reels section of the hotel has an enormous mountain climbing wall where guests can clip and climb for a fun and unforgettable experience.

Vermont has so much to offer for people of all ages, abilities, and interests. Whether it be a scenic hike, fast-paced mountain-bike adventure, or a relaxing weekend-stay at Jay Peak, it is almost certain you will leave the Green Mountain State with experiences and memories you will never forget!
