On January 29th, Billie Eilish, the 17-year-old singer-songwriter whose melancholic voice and calm tone brought her into the limelight, announced the title and tracklist of her second studio album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?

She then released a single from the album on the following day, January 30th, titled “bury a friend”. “bury a friend” is told from the perspective of the monster that lives under Eilish’s bed, which represents her anxiety and the pressure she feels from the music industry. Eilish had previously released two other singles from the album tilted: “you should see me in a crown” and “when the party’s over” on July 18, 2018 and on October 17, 2018 respectively.

The full tracklist of the album include 14 songs: “!!!!!!!”, “bad guy”, “xanny”, “you should see me in a crown”, “all the good girls go to hell”, “wish you were gay”, “when the party’s over”, “8”, “my strange addiction”, “bury a friend”, “ilomilo”, “listen before i go”, “ i love you” , and “goodbye”. The songs are all written in lowercase as a stylistic choice by Eilish.

Eilish’s first album, Don’t Smile at Me, was released on August 11th, 2017, when Eilish was 15 years old. She had written the 7th song on the album, “Ocean Eyes,” when she was 13, and the rest when she was 14 and 15. The album was positively received by many critics, and established her place as one of the major players of the Alternative genre. Today, Elish is one of the most streamed artists on Apple Music and Spotify.

WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? Is set to release on March 29th of this year. Accompanying the album will be the ̈WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP” North American tour, where Elish will perform songs from the album as well as her previous works.
