Get To Know The Journalist: Amber Buttaro

Patrick Dunn

I interviewed TMHS senior, Amber Buttaro, to reflect on her experiences inside the classroom in addition to her successes in athletics throughout her volleyball and tennis career.

Have you enjoyed your time at TMHS?
“Yes I have. It has had its ups and downs but overall it’s been pretty good”

What was your favorite part of TMHS?
“Definitely probably playing volleyball because I’m trying to play in college but if i don’t then i’ll definitely miss that experience”

How did your volleyball season go?                                                                                                                                                                   “The season actually went very well, we went 17-4, I believe, and that was a lot better than people thought we would do.”

Was there anyone in particular that helped make volleyball so entertaining for you?
“Probably my friends Kerry and Lizzy because they were my best friends the entire season and they made every practice bearable and fun.”

Why do you say bearable, was it that bad?
“Our [training] is a little tough, and there is a lot of conditioning everyday but because I was with people I loved it made it better.”

Have you done any other extracurriculars or sports while you were at TMHS?
“No, I pretty much do volleyball all year round but this year i decided to do tennis which is definitely different for me but I wanted to do something different to help me get out of my comfort zone.”

How has tennis been going? Has it been challenging?
“It’s a struggle if I’m being honest, but I’m really proud of myself for doing it.”

Are you having fun doing it?                                                                                                                                                                                “Yes”

Do you plan on doing tennis or volleyball after you graduate from TMHS?
“I hope to be able to play volleyball in college but I’m in the process of recruitment, and if I’m unable to do a varsity team or something like that in college, I’d definitely do a club or something similar”

What are your plans for college?                                                                                                                                                                         “I’m between a few different schools”

Which ones?
“I’m not entirely sure, but I’ve narrowed it down to about four”

What major are you considering?
“I’m thinking about majoring in sociology”

What will you minor in?
“Maybe criminal justice”
