Technology Age Takes Over Society

Technology Age Takes Over Society

In today’s day of age, technology has taken its course in ruining all of humanity. Whether you are dating someone, interviewing someone, or just meeting someone for the first time, there is a special quality about face-to-face interactions. You can catch the subtle tone in their voice, see their expression as it changes from sad to outraged, and you can look them in the eye to see if you trust them. So it is unfortunate that real-life interactions are on the outs as cell phone conversations, texting, instant messaging and social media start to take up more of our time. For young people especially, having a cell phone or iPod in hand and at the ready is the default mode while walking the streets or when in school. That means much less chance of conversation with the people who populate their real lives. Now phones can be useful, but do they really need to have such a huge impact on our daily lives? What is so important on a tiny little screen 24/7, last time I checked sending a snapchat was not a life or death situation. Nobody today has face-to-face conversations, you type a quick sentence and send it. Texting is useful yes, and everybody does it, but I mean what happened to having meaningful conversations? This generation has lost the value of romance, the value of trust, the value of conversation, sadly small talk is the new deep. In today’s society nobody picks up a book anymore; it is the illiterate generation. There is absolutely no work ethic anymore, this generation is so selfishly obsessed with themselves, they miss out on all the great opportunities life presents them with. Today’s society is becoming more and more addicted to technology that people are not appreciating what the world has to offer. Teenagers would rather watch Netflix or Facetime with their friends rather than hangout with their friends in person. Everyone should try and use technology a little less and see that they will be okay without it. Read a book, or go outside it will not kill us to be more productive and less preoccupied with the world of technology.
